OOTD: And I'm Feeling Good

So some of you may have seen my tweets last weekend about looking like either a hooker or like I was doing the walk of shame while wearing a certain dress at 7am. Well this happens to be that dress. Now I realize it really is a great dress and I love how these pics came out but you can see where those thoughts came from right? LOL

Photos By Candace Sweet <<<<<<< Follow Her On Facebook!

I picked up this dress which I am now referring to THE HOTTEST DRESS EVER! during the 50% Off Clearance Sale at Torrid last week and was so pleased when I got it and tried it on. It is a great bandage dress made from a great heavy material that keeps it structures in all the right places but is actually still really comfortable. It’s a bit more busty then my liking but is totally club appropriate which is probably where I would be most like to wear it. I am guessing I could probably layer it up a bit too with some sort of cami, and nice bomber jacket and some sexy booties and tights for cooler months too. Either way I know I will be looking good in this amazing dress!  For the shoot I paired it with my lace ankle black leggings from Torrid and my killer black heels that were a gift from my friend K. I wanted to keep it really simple since its such a BAM kind of dress and just wore my diamond stud earrings for accessories. I’m  sure I could definitely style this dress in a ton of different ways though and make it killer!

Fatbulously Frugal: Torrid Edition

So who isn’t looking for a good sale these days? I got an email that Torrid.com took an extra 50% off of their clearance prices and it lasts until the end of tonight! I literally jumped out of bed and ran straight to the computer. Some of my favorites that I have been waiting for to go on sale have and I am thrilled!! This grey and black ruffled tank dress is adorable! It will definitely keep me cool in the summer and so cute for now with a cardi over it. Another fave of mine is this adorable plaid dress. The cowgirl in me definitely wants to sport it with some cute boots.

Check out the sale and let me know what you score!

All About Being A Frugal Fatshionista!

It has been a CRAZY week! In the past seven days, I have become the Albany Plus Size Examiner, a contributor to SKORCH Magazine Blog, a contributor to Daily Venus Diva Magazine, and a Shop It To Me Trendsetter! I have definitely hit the ground running – mostly because I LOVE to write. The more I can write the happier I am!

Also, I have some coupons for ya’ll on the right for Torrid, Lane Bryant, and Kiyonna just click the links and you’ll get 10% off your entire purchase! Stay tuned for more coupons and promotions coming up!

This weekend was BEAUTIFUL! So, what’s a girl to do? Shop, obviously. However, my meaning for “shop” isn’t necessarily everyone else's. Typically when I actually go shopping (because my shopping usually consists of sitting with my laptop because I don’t exactly live in a fashion mecca)

I go to…..

Goodwill & Label Shopper.

Whaaaaaaaat? Are you all gasping? In shock? Or horror? Well, there is one thing you might not know about me,

I am a frugal fatshionista.

I love thrift stores. I go to Goodwill at least once a week. First I head to the dress section. Amongst those ugly house dresses I have found pure gold. And sometimes I buy an ugly house dress, too. I like the challenge of Goodwill. Hunting through racks, digging through bins, looking at an ugly vintage dress and thinking,

“I could rock this with some black heels, a wide belt and scarf.”

And let me tell you, the Goodwill in my town, is nothing to get excited about. It filled with short, button down shirts with crazy stripes or flowers. And mom jeans. And a scary plus-size section. But I brave it – because nothing feels better than buying a cut dress on-sale at the Goodwill for $2.50. Yes, the Goodwill has sales. And Label Shopper can be a mecca – I found Nine West plus-size dresses, tons of Lane Bryant, Silhouettes…pretty awesome.

1. Grasshoppers - Okay, so I didn’t buy these shoes because they made me look like I was about to go on my yacht with a white sweater over my shoulders, while wearing khakis and polo. HOWEVER, they were incredibly comfortable. I mean, felt like my feet had melted into them and I could walk for miles. However, all of the styles were pretty heinous. Grandma shoes. And I found one pair I could have tolerated, but they run VERY small and the size 10 was too tight and the size 11s were too loose.

2. So, this wasn’t REALLY a find…but that dress, on the mannequin, with that awful purse and hat, used to be mine. I am a fatshionista even at Goodwill. I always donate tons of clothes to Goodwill (when it finally seems my closet might vomit all over my pretty shabby chic bedroom), and apparently my garments are mannequin worthy. I don’t mean to brag…

3. Sektor Sport Sneakers – You may recall my quest for comfortable flats. Well since the Grasshoppers didn’t fit, and all the Keds I found were…a bit crazy, my friend Monica pointed these out, as she was already walking around the store in them trying to decide. You may ask, “WTF is Sektor?” So did we…especially when we couldn’t figure out what language the tags on them were written in. (We think Arabic). I can’t find anything about the brand or their website, but hey, these are cute sneaks. They are Velcro, they are small and flat, and look cute with a skirt. And they are pretty damn comfortable. Especially for $9.99!

4. I.N.C. Dress – This dress is DELIGHTFUL! It’s a black shift dress with wide sleeves and it has a red paisley print. At first I didn’t like it – I’m not much for prints. But this paisley print is really pretty and interesting, and it’s NOT all over the place. Also, it was originally a $129 dress and I got it at Goodwill for $2.50!
I also got two other vintage dresses – one is a crazy sweater dress that I MUST model for anyone to possibly understand it’s glory. The other is a pleated shirt-dress that has a blurry pastel pattern with a matching belt. Very 1970s chic.

If you are going to thrift shop or bargain shop or if you are on a budget, I recommend the following places:

* TJ Maxx/TK Maxx – only downside to TJ Maxx (Or TK if you are in the UK!) is their lack of nice plus-size clothing. They commit a lot of my fatshion faux pas, but if you are persistent they do carry great plus size brands from time to time.

* Label Shopper/Peter Harris – Label Shopper is a division of Peter Harris, I don’t know how widespread these stores are, but they are big in the Northeast. Our label shopper has a HUGE plus-size section with sizes up to 28+. They also carry great brands like Apple Bottoms, Lane Bryant, Nine West, Silhouettes, Avenue and Torrid! It’s like having all your favorite brands in one store – but you still have to hit them at the right time, because some stuff is really just laughable. BUT, you can now shop online! They won’t necessarily always show you the brand, but hey, if its in my size and I like it, I could CARE LESS about the brand! The online selection is much more limited than the store, but I just found this cute Lane Bryant dress!

* Goodwill/Salvation Army – Just SEARCH! And don’t be afraid to grab something experimental – it’s the easiest way to try new styles you might not be sure of or old styles you think you can rock.

* CLEARANCE RACKS – One of my shopping rules is to head STRAIGHT to the clearance racks in any store. Places like GAP, Old Navy, Lane Bryant and other major stores mark their prices down ridiculously. I ignore full price because I know A) It’s not worth the money, and B) It will probably be marked down in a few weeks. Two weeks ago I hit a sale at Lane Bryant where everything in the back was $7.00! I got over $600 worth of clothes for $60!

*eBay - I go to eBay for everything. If I am at a store and like something, I take out my iPhone and see if I can get it cheaper. It’s also great for VINTAGE! And a lot of eBay stores sell plus-size fashions that are popular right now, but not a brand name. Once again: WHO CARES! I can get an awesome pair of harem pants for $20 instead of $50 and they fit, how can you complain?

Anyone else have any favorite places for the frugal fatshionista?

Cami: Faith 21
Jacket: Lane Bryant
Belt: Torrid
Skirt: Evans (via Christina)

I bookmarked this look by Delmy because I love the pop of color that the skirt provides and when I saw this Evans fuschia bodycon skirt in Christina's shop I knew it had to be mine! OOTD: Spring Has Sprung!!

Today it is supposed to be in the 50’s and tomorrow the 60’s and I couldn’t be more excited. We have had sunshine all week and the anticipation of Spring has got me all giddy. I can’t wait for bare legs, sandals and the freckles that will start appearing all over my body. My Dad called them angel kisses and that’s what they will always feel like. I love the warm weather and am so happy that winter is almost behind us. Today is a casual Friday and I decided to throw in a bit of Spring into my look today.

My outfit is completely from Torrid, imagine that, except for the shoes which are from Payless. I am wearing some dark wash jeggings, a bohemian patterned tank with a ruffled stretch bust, and my frilly white cardigan. I love all the colors in the pattern of my tank and played off of the punchy pink in the shirt and matched it to my cute flats that I just bought a couple weeks ago on clearance for only $7! Ultimate win!

Today my lovely girlfriend Nightrider decided to make an appearance. She is dressed in her typical Spring attire as well. With her brown t-shirt, brown and white plaid cargo shorts and white button up shirt. Her whole outfit come from Old Navy except for the shoes that are Airwalks from Payless as well. Nightrider prefers to dress for the most part in mens clothing has a hard time finding clothes because even plus sized mens clothes are made to fit mens bodies and not the curvature of a woman. Any other curvy girls out there who can identify with shopping for mens clothes some tips we have picked up is to do a lot of online shopping. The stuff in stores isnt catering to you so you have to search a bit more to make it work. American Eagle and Old Navy have online mens plus lines and they both have those cute plaid shorts that are definitely in during the warmer months. Make sure your measure yourself well and follow the sizing charts for the correct fit.

Happy Spring Everyone!
Xoxo

OOTD: Stiletto Siren - A Little Bit Rock N' Roll

So once upon a Wednesday there was a beautiful punk rock princess. She was fierce, fabulous and definitely knew how to make it work with the curvy body she was given. On one particularly magical day she fell in love and new that her life would forever be different and HAWT! Who was the lucky love of her life you may ask? Well it was her brand new black bomber jacket for Yours Clothing. The End!

So yes my black bomber finally arrived last week and it really was love at first sight. It is an absolute perfect fit, it is also quality made, and could pass for real leather even though it is 100% polyester, yep and that means MACHINE WASHABLE!!!!!!! This jacket is a great weight making it feel lush but still flexible and I’m absolutely smitten with it. Seriously I have been wearing it everyday it is so fab!

Today I decided to give my look a little bit of a rock n’ roll quality and paired the new love bomber (i really should name it any suggestions?) with one of my most comfortable dresses from Torrid. I picked the dress up during an online one 50% off all clearance and I think it was a steal at like $20. I love the 2 piece look this dress has even though it is one piece and who could turn down a grey and black plaid? This dress came with a corset belt but today I wanted a little bit more comfort and a bit of a looser look.

I am wearing black leggings from Target and my gray incredibly comfortable ankle boots from Payless. I love these shoes and also own them in black. They are great for work, school and are awesome for rainy days like we are having today. I also accessorized just a smidge with my peace sign necklace that I picked up at Torrid as well.

Fatbulously Frugal - Torrid Coupons

I was trolling through Torrid.com the other day and realized that I had a great coupon!

$20 off of $100 with SPRING20, $40 off of $150 with SPRING40 and $60 off of $225 with SPRING60.

The reason why this is amazing is because I am going away at the end of March with my hubby and I need to get some sexy warm weather clothing. I have some cute stuff already packed (I know, I am insane) but I want to update with some cute new tops.

I am getting ready to snag up some of the Rosette Tops. I am a girl (through and through) and the more flowers, the better. If you pair the flowers with a tunic, I am sold. I will throw these tops on with leggings, jeggings, or skinny jeans, a blazer, lots of long necklaces and I am good to go!

Do you ladies love tunics? How do you rock them?

OOTD: Fancy Me and My Valentine

Since I was too busy lovin it up yesterday to post this I guess we could call this an Outfit Of Yesterday but that doesn’t have a cute little acronym, so it’s just not happening. Anyways, yesterday my wonderful partner Nightrider and I spent a lovely Valentine’s Day together. We spent a majority of the day lazing around, cuddling on the couch, watching reruns of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover and finally around 6pm got cleaned up and dressed up for our night out on the town. We planned a dinner at a local fondue restaurant, one of the more fancy shmancy eateries in Boise. Since we were going someplace nice I decided to pull out my best little black dress that I have only worn one other time but absolutely LOVE!

This great black satin bubble hem dress came from Torrid and is a size 18. It fits like a glove and luckily enough fits very tightly and structured in the bust so I was able to go sans bra for the evening (I hate a strapless bra so this is a WIN!) I paired it with black and white plaid size 8 peep-toe pumps that were from Torrid as well. I do have to tell you that these are the most comfortable heels I have ever owned.

I took this simple but classic look and added a pearl necklace and earring set that I got as a gift from my mother before she got married last year. Since it was a bit cold out, for the time in the car I wore a simple black cardigan and added on two sparkling rhinestone pendants that came with another Torrid dress I own. This cardigan looked nice but did tone down the whole look. It served it’s function though keeping me warm enough outside but it came right off once we got to the restaurant.

Nightrider had reserved us a private table in what the restaurant referred to as “Lover’s Lane” and we had a great night with a four course fondue meal that left me feeling as fancy as I looked. Overall a great Valentine’s date with a great look!

Fatbulously Frugal - Valentines Day Edition

Hello SKORCH readers,

I am so excited to be able to bring you some excellent sales each week. Ranging anywhere from web sales and secret coupons, to sample sale invites. I am a HUGE fan of sales. I will never buy anything full priced or without a coupon. With that being said...

Check out these following sites and don’t forget to pamper yourself for Valentine’s Day! Single or taken, you still deserve it!
XOXO,
Fatbulously Frugal Fanny

Valentine's day is coming and everyone wants some pretty undergarments. I
love being fancy every day, but certain days of the year, like Valentine's
day I will pull out the full arsenal. These three websites are having
beautiful valentine's day sales.

I am have been a big fan of Evans.co.uk for years. The two things that I
must note with them is the sizing guide and the price conversion. Please
check the size guide for your bras and panties as this company is housed in
the UK. I have a penchant for old school styles in bras and panties. Very
retro 1950's.
Torrid.com has some naughties that are definitely worth taking a look at. I
love their website and it is easy to navigate and the sales are fantastic!
Check them out and let me know what you picked up!
**UPDATE 2/11/10: Get 10% Off Any Order at Torrid by using the code 10OFFTD21**
HipsandCurves.com was voted Instyle’s Best of the Web 2009 and for good reason. They are devoting an entire section to Valentine’s Day inspired underpinnings under $20!
Bedheadpjs.com has some beautiful pajamas. Having one pair of the jammies
myself, I can attest to their quality. You can get a good deal if you sign up for their emails.
