recently I have gotten to know the owner of Plush Boutique in Atlanta. She is super sweet and an awesome contact and she runs Plush with great ease and understanding of being fabulous as a plus size woman. She picks very special designer pieces for Plush and recently has started carrying designs by Chloe Faith Harper who is the mastermind behind the Vitamin C Clothing.
I was lucky enough to receive a dress from Vitamin C Clothing that I will be reviewing soon and to be getting to know Chloe and I just can’t keep the great find that is Vitamin C Clothing to myself, so I am sharing it with you!
Chloe has quite the background in fashion with:
-BS in Fashion Merchandising & Apparel Design from Georgia Southern University
-Interned under Diane Von Furstenberg(NY) after graduation in ’06
-Wardrobe Assistant for Ebony Fashion Fair ’07-’08(Worlds largest traveling fashion show)
-Began Vitamin C Clothing in ’09
Vitamin C Clothing is influenced by the women the clothes are designed for. Vitamin C wants to give its customers clothing with functionality that is easy to wear but still fashionable. When I asked Vitamin C designer Chloe what she is inspired by she said
I’m inspired by the shape of the female body. We all have body issues but I strive to make clothing that accentuates the positive. Clothes are made to fit the body,the body shouldn’t be altered to fit clothes.
How can you not love her and Vitamin C in general? Well if you still have any doubts the designs will certainly change your mind!
I personally love Vitamin C’s use of vintage and classic silhouettes with modern touches and bright colors. It speaks right to my heart with an expression of pinup and edge. I love these look. I picked the following dress to be sent to me and received it in the mail today and I couldn’t be more impressed. I can’t wait to review this one for you all!

We here at Skorch set our standards to those of Elle, Vogue and other high fashion magazines. With that said, our Fashion Editor, Bella Styles, who is a fashion stylist/plus-size model (www.bellastyles.net), is always on the look-out for new designers and unique fashions. This month Bella Styles has discovered the design house of NaKIMuli by Tennille McMillan. NaKIMuli is an exclusively limited quantity-produced ready-to-wear clothing line for young women in both regular and plus-sizes. Bella recently did a photoshoot with Maz Imageworks featuring the designs of NaKIMuli. "The material of the dress felt like second skin and accented my curves in all the right places", says Bella. What makes this line stand out is when you look at the front of the two-tone dresses you're already in awe at the beauty, but then you turn around and there's another design, ahh, pure genious. The leggings are also two-tone and you're sure to be the center of attention when you walk into the room. But not only does NaKIMuli do apparel, there are also cute dookie bracelets and exotic earrings. You are sure to become a fan after only 5 minutes on her site. Please check out her designs. Is it just me or are the fashions for plus size women better in other countries. Australia, New Zealand, UK, and Canada. I have found several designers outside the United States whose designs just blow me away. Euphoria, Chocolat, Nicola Waite, The Carpenters Daughter, Voluptuous Inc, Obi, and Mela Purdie to name a few. I want to talk about Mela Purdie. If you are one of those gals who likes to stick to basics and jazz them up with accessories than Mela's designs are for you. Unfortunately they are not available in the United States. According to an email I received from a Mela Sales Rep. the clothing was unveiled at NYC Fashion Week in 2008. The response was good but due to the AUD $ crashing against the US they couldn't commit fully to selling here. I don't know how long you all have been following along, but at the beginning of my blog I said I was in the process of opening a VERY small boutique either online or in a flea market in Houston. It won't be until LATE next Spring. So, I was asking for wholesale info from Mela Purdie. They are kinda on the pricey side so I don't know if I can buy more than 1 piece with 1 size of each. Anyway, take a look at her designs on the website. Most are BASIC, but they are cute. These are a few of the pieces that I loved because they were not basic. I am still working on finding an online retailer that sells these to the US for those of you who can afford such luxuries!

Do you know who Jessica Biffi is? I didn't until just a moment ago. She was a recent contestant on Canada's 'Project Runway'. She has designed two collections for Elle. She put together Elle Addition and MXM. Both of these a Juniors Plus lines.
Kiss the Curves 2010 came to the the Historic Sweets Ballroom in Oakland, California on February 6th and provided a full-figured view of the utter fabulousness created when plus-sized beauty and contemporary fashion collide.

Kiss the Curves, the brainchild of plus model/actress/writer Tracie Collins, featured creations by designers Igigi, Corinthia Peoples, Ashley Stewart, Chocolate Sushi Couture, Marie Denee, A Clothes Mind, Tru Diva, and Isles of Paradise. Each designer brought their own uniquely flavored representation of plus sized fashion into the show. The lines ranged from chic, current business casual; to phenomenally sexy, yet tasteful full-figured lingerie. The models presented in Kiss the Curves ranged in size from 6 to 26. The one thing in common had by all of the models: fabulous CURVES!

Her designs are daring and intrepid, as well as flattering and tasteful.

Featuring fitted leather, blends of retro and futuristic styles, bold colors, and some African-inspired prints, Tru Diva is definitely a model of its namesake. This fearless line is for the true diva in each and every one of us. Definitely for the adventurous, Tru Diva is both memorable and innovative in its designs.
Isles of Paradise www.islesofparadise.com Isles of Paradise, the final Kiss the Curves line presented, is a sensuous treat. With a comprehensive lineup for every plus sized figure, Isles of Paradise offers lingerie for every taste. From silky flowing gowns, to lace and fitted bustiers, Isles of Paradise has it all.
FINALE:
Tracie Collins, the creator and executive producer of Kiss the Curves was fierce in her finale. In lingerie by Isles of Paradise, she commanded the stage in an all-black leather ensemble, including a leash attached to a gorgeous male model.
Kiss the Curves wrapped with a march of the entirety of models cast in the show, flaunting their curvy confidence. With every size and shape of plus sized women present, every full-figured woman was exceptionally represented in this show.

Events like Kiss the Curves are essential to suitably coalesce the fashion world with plus-sized real women. Kiss the Curves represented the true, full range of both the plus-sized figure, as well as the fashion that women with curves can appreciate. This show was a breath of fresh air. It did not surrender plus-sized women to the homely frocks of yesteryear designed to cover up voluptuous frames. Instead, it embraced both curves AND fashion, and gave women with real bodies the opportunity to visualize the tremendous range of fabulous fashion possibilities that are not always commercially represented. Kudos to Tracie Collins for sharing this dream with the rest of the world, and bringing her vision to life for all to see.
