MEDIA RELEASE: SKORCH Wins 'Plus E-Zine of the Year' at Full-Figured Fashion Week

Unveils Makeover, New Staff

WORLDWIDE, JUNE 1 2010: SKORCH Magazine - the #1 fashion and lifestyle publication for sizes 12 to 28 – has been voted by the public as the Plus E-Zine of the Year at the 2010 Full-Figured Fashion Week. The announcement came at the same time as SKORCH underwent a changing of the guard, with owner and founder Jessica Kane (of Kane Kreative) giving editorial control of the magazine to Cali Ann Lee (Editor-In-Chief) whose first order of business was to promote long-time reader and supporter Jessica O'Brien as Managing Editor.

The publication has also attracted new talent, including new video host Rosie Mercado who was named the Face of Full-Figured Fashion Week. Rosie is a model with Keke Dillard's House of Curves and is the owner/make-up artist for Miss Bellisima. Additionally, Kim Flonnoy is pulling double duty as the newest Beauty Editor in addition to her 'Sassy Sexy Money' column.

Whilst the magazine itself will retain its original title, the network of social media profiles has been dubbed xoxo skorch, announced as "the new place to experience everything SKORCH".

The changes have already garnered tremendous exposure, including a partnership with Macy's to present a series of Macy's Woman events. Two such events have already been held at the River Oaks, Tuttle Crossing and St. Louis Galleria stores. Macy's Woman offered fashion advice, free fittings and complimentary gifts. SKORCH has also partnered with The Curvy Revolution and the House of Curves to cast models for SKORCH The Runway, a Victoria's Secret style catwalk show coming in 2011.

In recent issues SKORCH has featured exclusive interviews with David Tutera (host of My Fair Wedding and Party Planner with David Tutera), Dirty Martini (renowned burlesque star) and upcoming interviews with Cy Frakes (star of TLC's King of the Crowns) and Tarina Tarantino (jewellery designer).

Jessica Kane will maintain peripheral involvement in SKORCH and is still a firm believer in its mission. Jessica: "SKORCH understands the limitless potential the internet and social networking allows women who crave fresh and fabulous fashion to stay on top of the latest trends, beauty advice and entertainment. Not since MODE has there been a publication to represent the majority of women who are size 12-28 who love dressing fabulous and refuse to wear substandard fashion."

Cali Ann Lee (Editor-In-Chief): "As the Editor-In-Chief for SKORCH it is my fashion pledge to bring you the very best in fashion, celebrity interviews and much more. I'm proud to be leading the forces behind SKORCH."

Jessica O'Brien (Managing Editor): "Being a part of SKORCH had been a dream of mine since 2007. I began as a fan and model hopeful, being introduced to the magazine by cover model Rasha Spindel. I know that it was a far away dream, but many times I posted on Facebook that I had big hopes to be a model for them. Never would I imagine that I would be sitting here, writing about how elated and proud I am to be SKORCH's new Managing Editor! I couldn't be more proud to represent SKORCH, and now be able to bring all of our amazing content to our readers/fans. Also, I know how much it meant to me to be featured by the magazine, being a plus-sized woman struggling to accept my body and shape. It is very surreal for me to be here and to think that now I am seeking out Dolls, models, etc. and able to help give them these opportunities to showcase their style and self esteem."

ABOUT SKORCH MAGAZINE: xoxo skorch showcases fashion for the majority, and although the team doesn't like to use the term "plus-size", the magazine endorses a body-positive message that women should strive to be the most beautiful, healthy and successful versions of themselves. The magazine's staff consists of women and men from across the globe, all of whom believe that the number printed on a clothing tag should not limit anybody wishing to look and feel good. In addition to current fashions, xoxo skorch's regular content covers many aspects of 'living large', including beauty, health and fitness, sex and relationships, finances, families and lifestyles.
